Continuing from the Data Definition Wizard

To define a data file manually, you need to begin by using the Data Definition Wizard, then choosing the Skip Field Identification option when it is available. For more information, see Data Sources.

To finish defining the file manually, use the Edit Table Layout tab. To display the Edit Table Layout tab:

1. Click the Table Layout in the Overview to open it.
2. Select Edit from the menu and choose Table Layout. Analyzer displays the Edit Table Layout Tab. Select the [Edit Fields/Expressions] tab within the Edit Table Layout tab. The three tabs in this window correspond to the three stages of defining a data file:
Confirm table options
Edit or define fields and create computed fields using expressions
Add data filters
3. Since the fields have not yet been defined for this table, the Edit Fields/Expressions list View is still blank. The drive, directory path and name of the data file currently being defined are displayed as part of the title bar.
4. Use Page Up/Dn to view the data in the lower portion of the screen or use CTRL-G to locate a specific record number.
