Overview of ODBC Drivers

Before you can access ODBC-compliant databases, you need to have the correct 32-bit ODBC drivers installed on your computer and appropriate access rights to the ODBC data source. If you can read desired ODBC data with another software application, you already have these drivers.

Before you start Analyzer, make sure your ODBC data default directory is set correctly. ODBC sets the default directory to where your driver locates its data. To set the default directory, open ODBC in the Windows Control Panel. Select the data source directory from which you want to import data. If you need assistance with ODBC drivers, contact your systems administrator.

ODBC is a Microsoft interface that allows a variety of applications to connect to, and read, third party database applications. Data files imported and flattened through ODBC have a refresh capability that allows you to update the data in the file to reflect the most current data in the database.

As Analyzer and ConnectPlus are both 32-bit client applications, you must install the 32-bit ODBC driver for the data source you wish to access via ODBC.

When you access a relational database through ODBC, Analyzer reads the data you specify and, if flattened, imports it into a data file on your local hard drive for analysis. You can import both physical and logical tables.
