The connection takes place in stages and you can monitor the progress of your connection request in the Activity log that is displayed whenever you make a manual or automatic connection request.
There are five stages in a successful connection:

| • | Server initializing |
| • | Connected to server |
| • | Initializing server variables |
| • | Connection successful |
The Server Activity log will indicate whether the connection was successful and will close automatically.
