Date Fields

Date information is stored in many different formats. Dates are usually represented with a combination of numbers, characters and punctuation characters (most typically “/” or “-”). Sometimes dates are represented with numbers alone. Analyzer’s Data Definition Wizard automatically detects most common date formats.

Analyzer uses a DateTime format to identify the byte positions in a date field that represent the day, month and year information. In most cases, the DateTime format is automatically detected when dates are defined using the Data Definition Wizard. Analyzer presents you with its assessment of the date format and lets you confirm or modify it. In rare cases, when Analyzer cannot detect a date format, you can manually enter it.

The date format does not affect the way dates are displayed in Analyzer. To change the way dates are displayed in Analyzer, see Date Options.
